Enterprises Shift AI Strategy From Copilots to Autonomous Agents, Forcing Operating Model Overhauls

Major enterprises including Fanatics, Thomson Reuters, and WHOOP are deploying autonomous AI agents that operate across entire technology stacks simultaneously. Snowflake's CoCo platform has emerged as a unified governance layer for this transition. EXL's $300 million in 2025 free cash flow signals growing enterprise investment in agentic delivery models.

Fanatics, Thomson Reuters, and WHOOP are running autonomous AI agents across their enterprise stacks using Snowflake's CoCo platform, marking a move from AI assistants to systems that operate independently at machine speed.1

CoCo functions as Snowflake's agentic control plane, giving builders a governed environment to manage workflows across data, models, and applications.1 The platform represents a direct response to a core enterprise problem: existing technology stacks were built for humans, not agents.

"Your existing tech stack was designed for human-operated, application-centric workflows. It needs to be reconsidered when the actor is an AI agent operating at machine speed across multiple systems simultaneously," said Surojit Chatterjee in MIT Technology Review.2

The architectural implication is structural. AI agents are not another software layer — they move across layers, connecting systems and contextualizing data from multiple applications at once.2 Prasun Shah, writing in MIT Technology Review, identified this as the next competitive battleground for enterprises.2

On the services side, EXL generated nearly $300 million in free cash flow in 2025 and is pivoting toward agentic delivery as a core business model.3 The company's investor day signaled a more balanced capital allocation strategy built around AI-native operations.

Infrastructure is catching up to demand. Dell's exascale storage systems, NVIDIA GPU-accelerated data platforms, and AMD MI350P-equipped PowerEdge servers are all targeting H2 2026 availability waves — timed to support production-scale agentic deployments.

Workforce metrics and accountability structures are also under pressure. When agents execute tasks autonomously across finance, compliance, and customer operations simultaneously, traditional human-centric performance frameworks break down. Enterprises must define new governance models that assign accountability to agent outputs, not just human decisions.

The transition from experimentation to production is no longer theoretical. Platforms are live, infrastructure timelines are set, and enterprise free cash flow is being redirected toward agentic systems. The operating model redesign has begun.
